FRIDAY PARTICIPATION (A GROUP ONLY)
Friday sessions are open to A Group drivers (A-Solo and A-Instructed).  If you are unsure of your status as a National Capital Chapter Approved A Group driver, please contact the Registrar.  Students new to NCC must receive Chief Instructor approval to register for Friday.

A-SOLO ELIGIBILITY
NCC offers an A-Solo option for Advanced students. Advanced students typically have:
• Approximately 25 track days of experience
• Prior A-Solo clearance from NCC or another BMW CCA HPDE program
• Recent experience on the track they wish to drive solo

All solo designations must be reviewed and approved by the Chief Instructor.  If you have not been cleared A-Solo before, have never driven solo with NCC, or have never driven the Circuit, you must attend Friday’s training day. You will be evaluated by our instructors, and if approved, you may drive solo during the Saturday and Sunday HPDE.  Please contact the NCC HPDE Registrar if you have questions.

INSTRUCTION FORMAT
We plan to provide in-car instruction at this HPDE.  If you are not comfortable with in-car instruction, contact the NCC HPDE Registrar prior to registering.

Event Admission Priority

Demand for NCC HPDE events sometimes exceeds available capacity. When registrations exceed our limit, students will be confirmed based on registration date and  in the priority order outlined below. Priority Order:
    1.    Multiple-day registrations (Saturday–Sunday, or Friday–Sunday)
    2.    Single-day Saturday registrations
    3.    Single-day Friday registrations

Note: Sunday-only registrations are not offered.

Students registering for a single day may remain waitlisted until sufficient instructor staffing is confirmed for multi-day students.

Registration without a valid BMW CCA Membership maybe waitlisted and may result in loss of  priority assigment.

Registrations approved after the offical registation close date will incur a $75 late registation fee

Driver Age and License Requirements:

  • All on-track participants must be at least 16 years old.
  • A valid driver's license must be presented at Registration Check-in to be permitted on track (no refunds if not provided)
  • Drivers under 18 are permitted with the following conditions:
    • A valid, non-provisional driver’s license is required (no learner’s permits).
    • A parent or legal guardian must give written permission for the minor to participate (minor waiver will be provided)

On track attire requirements

  • Shorts are permitted, but long pants are strongly recommended.
  • Short-sleeve shirts are permitted, but long sleeves or jackets are strongly recommended.
  • Sleeveless shirts and tank tops are not permitted.
  • Open-toed shoes, sandals, and flip-flops are not permitted .
  • Helmets: SA2015 helmets remain acceptable until SA2025 helmets are widely available (expected late summer 2026).
    • Helmets must be SA-rated 2015 or newer. Full-face SA helmets are strongly recommended.
    • Note: 2025 was the final year M-rated (motorcycle) helmets were allowed.  M-rated (motorcycle) helmets are not acceptable for 2026 NCC HPDE events.
  • Eye protection is strongly encouraged. Visors should be closed, or sunglasses/protective lenses should be worn.

Vehicle requirements

  • All cars, including A-Solo cars, must have a passenger seat and equal restraint systems for driver and passenger. (e.g., if the driver has a five-point harness, the passenger must have a five-point harness as well.)

  • Convertibles (hard-top or soft-top), SUVs, trucks, vans, and motorcycles are NOT  permitted.
  • Fully electric vehicles are not permitted.
  • Vehicles must be quiet enough to allow clear in-car and on-track communication. Summit Point Motorsports Park's maximum decibels for HPDE events is 103 dB. Cars exceeding this or interfering with instructor communication may be excluded.  If you have concerns your car is not acceptable, test the decibels or contact us.
  • Roll bars/cages must be fully padded with SFI padding anywhere a head may contact above the level of the front door window sills.
  • Cars with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) must allow full deactivation of lane keeping, collision avoidance, auto braking, and related features. The driver must ensure these are turned off during all sessions.

  • All cars must be inspected within 4 weeks of each HPDE by a qualified service facility.
  • A completed tech inspection form must be presented at the event.
  • Drivers are responsible for ensuring their cars are safe and track-ready.
  • Race cars or vehicles not currently road-inspected must present proper race safety certifications (e.g., annual race inspection).

Medical Information

  • All students and instructors must maintain an up-to-date MSReg profile, including emergency contact information.
  • Medical forms are optional; consider completing one if you have a medical condition an EMT should know immediately (examples: diabetes, blood thinners, heart rhythm issues, seizure disorders).

Important Notes
ATTENTION BMW E36 CAR OWNERS:  BMW E36 cars must have replaced the original radiator to participate. This requirement is non-negotiable and is a safety issue. Review the Tech Inspection form for details. Failure to meet this requirement may result in forfeiture of all or part of your registration fee under the Refund Policy.

Car Sharing

  • Car sharing requires prior approval.
  • Changes in vehicle type after registration is confirmed also requires prior approval.

Note: Car sharing within the same run group is not permitted.  For maximum efficiency, we recommend sharing cars between non-adjoining run groups, as this schedule typically works best. (e.g. Student 1 is assigned to B group and Student 2 is assigned to D group.

Refund policy

Our HPDE costs are fixed and based on financial obligations we enter into once you register and are accepted. Tuition is priced as low as possible based on your acceptance and attendance.

    • You will not be charged for your registration (full refund).
  • Between 14 and 7 days before the event:
    • You will receive a 50% refund of your payment.
  • Within 7 days of the event (Freeze Date):
    • No refund will be issued.

Cancellation is the responsibility of the registrant and must be completed through MSReg. Notification may also be made by emailing the Registrar at hpdereg@nccbmwcca.org.

No-Show Policy
If you fail to attend the HPDE without notifying the Registrar prior to 5:00 p.m. the Friday before the event, you will forfeit your entire tuition for that weekend.

Mechanical Failure / Car Damage
If your car is damaged or breaks for any reason and you cannot continue in the school, no refund will be provided for the portion of the event missed.

For example:
    •    If you run off track and break suspension
    •    If a radiator fails on Saturday morning

You will not be reimbursed for any event fees for that event.

The National Capital Chapter reserves the right to decline entry to any individual or vehicle deemed unsafe or unsuitable for track use.  These policies are long-standing and no exceptions will be made.
